LEON LONG-YIEN CHANG
Master Chang was born in 1909 in Nanjing, China. He now resides in Flushing, Queens, New York.
From a young age, he is influenced by Confucian teachings and studied the theories. He was a calligraphy disciple of Hu Hsiao-Shih (1888-1962), a great scholar of ancient scripts and literature, and perhaps the greatest calligrapher of the mid-twentieth century. Dr. Chang earned a BA in political science at the University of Nanjing in 1932 and a Docteur en Droit at the University of Nancy in 1936. From 1939 to 1943, he was a researcher at the University of Berlin, Ballior College, Oxford University and Harvard University. He was a member of the Chinese diplomatic delegation to the Third Reich, Berlin, 1937-1941; and section chief at the United Nations Secretariat at its opening in 1946.
