The Document of Discipleship
On the envelope is written the words “Bai-Tie” in Chinese, meaning the document of discipleship. Folded inside is a red piece of paper. Its content is as follows:
I, [name], [sex], born in the year [birth year] [birth month] [birth day], in [birthplace], father’s name [father’s name], today, under my own will, becomes the disciple of [teacher’s name] and I am willing to learn the Way of Zizen. I am willing to protect, propagate and respect the tradition.
